Many people start health improvement programs with great intentions; then quit because of soreness, injury or fatigue; then feel guilty and think they lack the discipline to be consistent with their program. But a lack of discipline is usually not the problem. The program they are on is usually too much, too soon for their condition. Why continue with something that feels like punishment, is inappropriate for your condition and bad for your health. It only takes discipline when we force ourselves to do something that we don't like, or don't have the energy to do.
The secret to Consistency Example: If we are tired, but we do Systemic Exercise anyway, we have more energy while we're doing it, and the rest of the day. It doesn't take much discipline to do something that we enjoy, that's comfortable and that gives us more energy as we're doing it. Especially when the alternative is fatigue. The easiest way to build the habit of Consistency is to apply the other Systemic Health Principles. They will personalize the Systemic Health Techniques and keep them safe, comfortable and progressing at a pace that is best for us. They will bring positive results early on, and every day. Having a positive experience with each practice session is psychologically very important. It makes us want to practice every day, instead of feeling like it's drudgery. We'll miss it on the days that we can't do it. In traditional natural therapeutics it is often said: Be gentle with yourself We can prevent or correct chronic illness if we apply the Systemic Health Principles to 1) how we do our exercise, 2) how we sleep and rest, 3) how we eat, 4) how we fast, and 5) how we conduct ourselves emotionally. So, remember, Always Be Comfortable (ABC!), and Always Be Consistent. (ABC!) Please read the next page, Systemic Health Principle #6, Alternation © 1997, Systemic Health Institute, Inc.
