There has been an explosive increase of chronic, degenerative health problems in industrially advanced societies in the last few decades. More than any time in history, more than in underdeveloped countries, we are suffering from allergies, asthma, chronic bronchitis, upper respiratory infections, chronic ear infections in children, chronic skin conditions, chronic headaches, poor digestion, PMS, menopausal symptoms, fatigue, heart disease, cancer, AIDS - the list goes on and on.
Heart disease, for example, only affected about 9% of Americans before the 1930s. By 1965 it had climbed to 53%. It's still our number one killer, despite all the advances in medical care in the last 30 years. The sad part is that it's easily prevented. The biggest danger is that chronic symptoms have become so common that we've come to think of them as normal. After all, if most of the people around us have some kind of chronic symptoms, shouldn't we expect to have them too? We have accepted a low level of health as normal. Using heart disease as an expample again, the average resting heart rate in the U.S. is 72 Beats Per Minute (BPM). But 60 BPM is normal! In Americans, it steadily increased from 60 BPM before 1930, to 72 BPM by 1965. 72 BPM has become the national average, but that doesn't mean it's normal. It is possible to know, years before a heart attack, that a person is in trouble, because a weakened cardiovascular system, with a resting heart rate of 72 BPM, is cardiovascular disease! But most people are not allerted until they have a heart attack or a stroke, because they don't know what to look for early on. From an early age I wondered why I wondered why there is such a tremendous increase in chronic illness in the last few decades. It was important to me, because from childhood I suffered from allergies, asthma, fatigue and many other ailments. My sickly start in life turned out to be a blessing. It gave me a determination to find out what caused my ailments and what makes the human body tick. I didn't want complex medical theory, or new research findings that would be obsolete in two years. I wanted time proven, practical techniques that I could use to regain my health. Over a 10 year period I visited over 20 physicians. But all they could do was give me medication to control my symptoms. I discovered early on that our conventional medical community does not understand the root causes of health or illness. There's a big difference between The medications I was given were a blessing. They kept me alive and much more comfortable. But medications are only an attempt to temporarily manage symptoms. I wanted more. I wanted to get rid of my illnesses entirely. I wanted to be well! I discovered that medications Of course, at first I was only interested in getting rid of my symptoms, because I was miserable. I just wanted an end to feeling tired and sick all the time. Eventually I found doctor-teachers who really understood the root causes of all my chronic illnesses. I followed their directions and all my health problems were gone within a year of applying the principles and techniques of Systemic Health. More importantly, I discovered a level of health and Vitality I never thought possible. My quest for health lead me to study the health preservation methods of India, China, Israel and Europe. It was an exciting study, but a long and complex one. It has been my "magnificent passion" over the years to simplify the process as much as possible, so it could be easily understood and applied by anyone. I also wanted my children to grow up understanding how to be healthy. Regaining my Systemic Health changed my life completely. I've been able to enjoy an unusual level of good health for many years. I've also been able to help other people to regain their health, which has been especially rewarding.
